Licensed Practical Nursing

Adult Education

The Monmouth County Vocational School District’s Practical Nursing program is one of studies and practical experience to prepare students to meet the State requirements for licensure as a practical nurse in New Jersey.

Approved by the New Jersey State Board of Nursing, the New Jersey State Department of Education, and the Council on Occupation Education graduates are eligible to take the Practical Nursing Licensure Examination for the State of New Jersey.

The program is located on 105 Neptune Blvd. Neptune, NJ. The building is open from 7:30 am to 2:30 pm, Monday thru Friday. For more information call 732-431-7245 

During the 2015-16 school year 20 students graduated from the program, passed their NCLEX exam, and are employed throughout the county in nursing homes, hospitals, and other medical facilities. More information on the LPN occupational profile can be found at

NCLEX Results for 2015: 100% of all MCVSD LPN candidates passed the NCLEX the first time they took it! This is 30% above the national average.

Financial aid is available for the program. On the average a typical student will borrow approx. $7,000 to complete the program. A payment plan is also available. Two payments of $4,250 are due September 1 and January 1.

An 11-month classroom/clinical experience to include an Orientation to Practical Nursing. Classes meet Monday through Friday 7:30AM - 2:30PM

Phase I: Classroom and Clinical
Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology, Nutrition, Personal & Community Health, Pharmacology, Growth & Development, Personal & Professional Relationships, Fundamentals of Nursing and Vocational Aspects.

Phase II: Clinical and Classroom
Medical/Surgical Nursing I & II

Phase III: Clinical and Classroom
Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Geriatrics & Psychiatric Nursing

Tuition and Fees $9,000 for 2017/18 for Monmouth County Residents

Other expenses include physical exams, malpractice insurance, uniforms, textbooks, supplies, criminal background check, NJ State Board License fees, finger printing, NCLEX testing fees, and graduation fees (approx. $1,200).

  • Tuition and fees are established by the Board of Education annually.
  • Refunds made after the first class will be honored based on Board policy.
